Becky Lynch is the new Women’s World Champion after Rhea Ripley was forced to relinquish the title on last week’s WWE Raw.

Tonight’s April 22 Raw played host to a battle royal to determine the winner of the vacant championship, eventually won by Becky Lynch.
Michael Cole noted this was just the fourth time in the history that a traditional battle royal would determine a world champion, mentioning Gail Kim winning the Women’s Championship, Kurt Angle winning the World Championship in 2006, and The Great Khali winning the World Heavyweight Title in 2007.
The first to be eliminated was Candice LeRae, followed by Indi Hartwell with both being tossed over the ropes by Maxxine Dupri.
Dupri would end up being eliminated by Nia Jax.

In the end, the match would come down to a final three of Becky Lynch, Nia Jax and Liv Morgan.
It took both Lynch and Morgan to work as a team in an attempt to eliminate Jax. After setting her up for a double suplex, instead Jax reversed and landing a suplex of her own on both of them at the same time.
When she went to the top rope, Becky and Liv took it in turns hitting moves on her, and she was knocked down from the ring apron and eliminated.

In the end it came down to Becky Lynch and Liv Morgan.
Becky Lynch managed to hit a Manhandle Slam on Liv Morgan on the apron, sending her to the floor and securing victory.
Becky Lynch is now the Women’s World Champion and a nine-time champion overall in WWE including – seven of those being main roster singles titles.
Lynch was actually originally planned to take some time off from WWE after WrestleMania 40, this was all a late change in plans due to Ripley’s injury.
