WWE star The Miz has addressed being a host rather than a competitor at SummerSlam, which took place in his hometown.

The August 3 premium live event emanated from the Cleveland Browns Stadium in Cleveland, Ohio.
While The Miz made it clear he wanted a match at the event, he ultimately didn’t wrestle, instead serving as the host for the event.
Speaking on the Fantasy Points podcast, The Miz admitting that “you always want that match”, but was grateful that WWE found a spot for him.

He explained:
“Being able to go into that stadium, not as a fan, but as performer, and being able to perform in front of my family, my friends. Granted, did I want a wrestling match? Of course.
“It is very very difficult nowadays with how many superstars we have that are over and getting reactions, putting butts in seats. We have so many superstars that are immensely popular, that have great stories going.
“To be able to find a spot for me, in my hometown, as a host. I’m forever grateful. Obviously, you always want that match.”

The Miz last wrestled on the August 26 Raw episode, competing in the Intercontinental Title #1 contender’s tournament match which was ultimately won by Pete Dunne.
Dunne has now shared a bold statement following his win, which you can read more about right here.
