Hangman Page breaks silence on losing AEW World Title to CM Punk

'Hangman' Adam Page has made his first public comments since losing the AEW World Championship to CM Punk at Double Or Nothing 2022.

The 29 May pay-per-view saw Page's 197-day run atop AEW come to an end, when Punk pinned 'Hangman' after he hesitated to hit his challenger with the belt. That lapse gave Punk time to recover, meaning that when Page went for the Buckshot Lariat, the veteran was able to counter into a Go To Sleep. An elementary three-count followed this. On Tuesday, Page tweeted his gratitude for those who'd supported his vision as AEW World Champion, reciting a familiar catchphrase after mentioning his philosophy of treating others with "common love and dignity":-

"Change the world" is, of course, the former tagline of The Elite. Commonly used throughout All Elite Wrestling's first year or so (when Page was affiliated with the group), it could be interpreted as a hint of things to come for 'Hangman'. Page has been estranged from his former Elite stablemates since he and Kenny Omega split their tag team up in 2020. Later, at Full Gear 2021, Page's two-year character arc was completed as he felled Omega for the AEW World Title.
