An ROH match at the recent AEW tapings was brought to an end by referee stoppage due to one of the participants getting injured.

The tapings took place on November 22, 2023, directly after AEW Dynamite in the Wintrust Arena in Chicago, Illinois.
At the taping, Christopher Daniels and Matt Sydal teamed to take on the duo of Griff Garrison and Cole Karter.
During the match, as reported by PW Insider, Sydal hit a twisting splash on Karter but landed on the young star’s face, “smashing the back of his head into the canvas.”
PW Insider notes that “Daniels and the referee realized something was wrong and called the ringside doc.”

The doctor, Doc Sampson, would look over Karter and the match would end by referee stoppage.
The report notes that Karter was able to walk out of the ring but it took “a long time” for him to do so.
Although there hasn’t been an official diagnosis, it is reported that Karter has “apparently suffered a concussion.”

The Chicago crowd gave Cole Karter a round of applause when Daniels took to the mic, putting Karter over.
He would go on to say that they wanted to win tonight, though not in that manner.
Daniels would also remind the fans to not try this at home due to the danger inherent in what happens in the ring.
