Ahead of their partnership at WrestleDream, Kota Ibushi has discussed potentially going a step further and pursuing the AEW Tag Team Championships alongside Kenny Omega in the future.

Ibushi and Omega have held tag team gold before as a tandem, winning tag titles for Japanese promotion DDT on two occasions as well as the NJPW IWGP Junior Heavyweight Tag Championship once.
Speaking with Justin Barrasso of Sports Illustrated, Ibushi indicated that he’s interested in teaming with Kenny Omega to challenge for the AEW Tag Team Title.

Ibushi said:
“If I can get that chance to team with Kenny for those titles, I could not even begin to use ordinary words to capture my feelings.
“Please know this–it would be spectacular. Teaming with Kenny, I would challenge myself to be extremely aggressive.
“We will show AEW that The Golden Lovers are immortal. That is all part of my destination in AEW.
“I hope that The Golden Lovers and The Elite will be able to further enliven the professional wrestling world.”

Ibushi is set to compete in his third match in AEW at WrestleDream once again standing alongside Omega, as well as Chris Jericho to take on The Don Callis Family members Konosuke Takeshita, Sammy Guevara and Will Ospreay.
While still early in his AEW tenure, Ibushi has already stated his intention to compete in a ‘dream match’ against an opponent he has never faced off against before in his career, click here for full details.
