At AEW Double or Nothing on Sunday, May 26, Mercedes Mone faces the TBS Champion Willow Nightingale in Las Vegas.

Mone made her first AEW appearance at Big Business on March 13, 2024, with it being later reported that she had signed a contract that “likely makes her the top paid female performer in the history of wrestling.”
Not only is she reportedly the likely “top paid female performer”, but she also declared herself the greatest women’s wrestler of all time in recent comments with The Ringer, saying:

“They haven’t really got to see the CEO. They know who Sasha Banks is, but the CEO, Mercedes Moné, (is) something they’ve never seen before, and I’m ready to show them.
“I’m the greatest women’s wrestler of all time, 100 percent.”

Speaking about her decision to leave WWE, Mone explained her mindset, saying:
“I don’t like being handcuffed. The only place to grow is with change, and I needed that change.”

As reported previously, sources close to Mone had said she chose to sign with AEW as a return to WWE would be a “return to where she had already been.”
In March 2024, ahead of her AEW debut, Mone revealed that she knows she’s “gonna be back there one day” when discussing a possible WWE return.
Double or Nothing marks Mercedes Mone’s AEW debut match with the star having recently shared a training video.
The last time Nightingale and Mone crossed paths was in May 2023 at NJPW Strong Resurgence where Mone suffered an injury that saw a change in plans on the fly and Nightingale become NJPW Strong Women’s Champion.
