A new report has revealed some backstage “fear” and “concern” ahead of the start of the 2024 WWE Draft on tonight’s SmackDown.

The April 26 edition of SmackDown will mark the start of the 2024 WWE Draft. Many fans and viewers are greatly anticipating a night of shakeups and changes that will be a surprise to most of them, but it will also be a surprise to the stars on the roster.
Fightful Select provided an update on the WWE Draft, noting that talent they had spoken to had not been told about how the draft would work, what brand they would be going to or any other details as of Wednesday, April 24.
Most talent were made aware of what day they would be drafted when WWE posted the Draft Pool on social media this week.
In regards to the NXT brand, there is a sense of some being “not too optimistic” with names from the brand being intentionally hidden from the pools in order to create a surprise factor.

In speaking with talent and other sources within NXT, there is a “fear” that the brand may be “picked dry” in the Draft as has been the case in the past.
The report notes that there is also concern about many talent not knowing if they are being called up to the main roster because many were unaware of their status for the Draft when spoken to.
This has led to concern that WWE will be calling talent up without a plan, which has been a heavy criticism of NXT callups in recent years.

In regards to main roster talent moving to NXT, there have also been reservations about how talent may seen the move as a demotion.
The report also notes that one source did note the belief that there are several main roster talents who could benefit from a run on NXT.
