Paul Heyman has weighed in on the strength of the current women’s roster in WWE, drawing comparisons with two tennis superstars.

Heyman made the comments during an appearance at Bloomsberg’s Power Players Summit after being asked about how they capture female audiences in WWE.
With it being noted that “women make up one-third to 40%” of the WWE audience, depending on source, Heyman responded to the question, saying:

“I let the product speak for itself. We have, in WWE right now, what is the equivalent to when the Williams sisters came on to the tennis court.
“We have the greatest female roster in the history of this industry and they’re not just there for s*x and appeal. They are there because the women in WWE are… the best.”

Heyman would go on to identify Ronda Rousey as an example of the success of women in WWE, stating:
“Ronda Rousey came to the WWE to display her athletic skills and, while doing it, she got a chance to display her persona as a character. But, when Ronda Rousey, who is to MMA is what the Williams sisters were to tennis, comes to WWE to do that, it speaks volumes of what we’re doing.
“The women here are not only magnificent athletes, they have acting chops as well.”

On the subject of business success, Heyman also named WWE President Nick Khan and Chief Content Officer Paul Levesque among those who have led to the current success.
