NJPW World TV Champion Zack Sabre Jr has now responded to Bryan Danielson, who has challenged him to a match at AEW WrestleDream.

Danielson issued the challenge on the September 9 edition of Collision, before AEW confirmed that this match will take place at the October 1 pay-per-view.
While Sabre wasn’t in the arena to address Danielson’s challenge, he made sure to share a message for the American Dragon following his appearance at Sunday’s NJPW Road To Destruction show.

Sabre said:
“Dragon bollocks. Bryan Danielson. About bloody time. About bloody time. I’ve been waiting. I’ve been waiting, mate. I’ve been waiting.
“I can’t think of a better time and a better place than WrestleDream, October 1, the whole event is in honor of Antoni Inoki. I can’t think of a better way to honor Inoki than to find out who the best technical wrestler in the world really is.
“Bryan, you’re one of the greatest wrestlers that has ever lived, but I surpassed you yonks ago, dickhead. Yonks ago. Bryan, in 2008, you helped kickstart my career.
“I have some bad news for you, you don’t have another year left. 2008, you jump started Zack Sabre Jr. In 2023, Bryan, I end your career. See you in Seattle, dickhead.”

This bout has been discussed as a dream match by fans for years, and almost took place at the first AEW X NJPW Forbidden Door show, however Danielson was unable to compete at the event.
Instead, Claudio Castagnoli faced ZSJ at the 2022 event, after revealing himself to be a member of the Blackpool Combat Club.
Many fans consider Danielson and Zack Sabre Jr to be the top two technical wrestlers on the planet.

Interestingly, Zack Sabre Jr won the Wrestling Observer’s best technical wrestler yearly award seven consecutive times between 2014 and 2020, with his seven year stint both preceded and succeeded by Bryan Danielson.
