Prior to heading to Japan to compete in this years G1 Climax, Eddie Kingston asked to join an AEW faction, according to a current star in the company.

As revealed by Matt Hardy on his Extreme Life of Matt Hardy podcast, Kingston asked him whether he could join the Hardy Party group (Matt & Jeff Hardy as well as Isiah Kassidy & Ethan Page) once he had returned from the G1.

Hardy revealed:
“A person that I think would love to do a trios with myself and Jeff would be Eddie Kingston.
“Before he was leaving to go to Japan, he said, ‘When I get back from this G1, can I be with you guys?’

“He said, ‘I see what you guys are doing. You guys are always cooking. You’re very creative. It’s just easy. No bulls**t. Can I be with you guys? Can I be part of The Hardy Party?’
“I love some Eddie Kingston, man.“

Kingston will be expected back in AEW following the conclusion of the G1, which is set to end this Sunday, August 13.
Kingston’s current record in the tournament going into its final week is four wins and two losses, with his next opponent being Bullet Club’s David Finlay on Tuesday, August 8.
Finlay currently shares a 4-2 record in the C-Block along with Kingston, adding high stakes in what is likely to determine who advances to the next round.
