A big update has emerged on Bryan Danielson’s wrestling future, following his comments on the September 9 edition of AEW Collision.
During the show, Danielson noted that he previously promised his family that he’d spend more time at home after his daughter Birdie turned seven.
Noting that she is currently six years old, Danielson promised to give it his all for the next year, stating that he’s unsure what the future holds for him.
This fuelled speculation that Danielson may hang up his boots in one year’s time, but clarification has now emerged on the situation.
Justin Barrasso of Sports Illustrated reports that Danielson currently plans to stop wrestling full-time in the next year.
Indicating that Danielson will still have a role with AEW following his shift to part-time, the following was shared to Sports Illustrated’s ‘Fan Nation‘:
Multiple people close to the situation confirmed with Sports Illustrated that Danielson will be stepping away from wrestling full-time in the next year, yet may remain a special attraction for AEW.
Danielson has been wrestling for over 20 years, with the popular star making his in-ring debut in December 1999.
He notably retired from in-ring competition in early 2016 due to a serious injury, but was cleared to return in 2018.
Also on Collision, Danielson issued a challenge to Zack Sabre Jr for a match at AEW WrestleDream on October 1.
