AEW's Kota Ibushi taken to hospital after big match

AEW star Kota Ibushi was reportedly taken to hospital llowing his match at Tuesday’s (January 2) Pro Wrestling NOAH event.

Ibushi was in action against Naomichi Marufuji in the main event of the NOAH The New Year 2024 event in Japan, with Ibushi ultimately defeating Marufuji after just over 33 minutes of action.
Fans grew concerned about Ibushi after the popular star was unable to stand while Marufuji was holding his arm up following the bout. You can view a clip of this moment below.
Per Sports Hochi, Ibushi was taken to hospital after injuring both ankles during the match.

Per the report, officials believe Ibushi was injured early on in the bout. Ibushi reportedly made his way to the back before stating that he was in severe pain, with Ibushi then being taken to the hospital in an ambulance.
This report featured a quote from NOAH’s Director Narihiro Takeda, who stated that little will be known about Ibushi’s injuries until he receives an official diagnosis at the hospital.
After making a number of appearances for the company, Ibushi signed with AEW in November.

He last wrestled for AEW on the November 15 edition of Dynamite, teaming with Paul Wight, Kenny Omega and Chris Jericho to defeat Brian Cage, Konosuke Takeshita, Kyle Fletcher and Powerhouse Hobbs in a Street Fight.
