AEW star Jon Moxley made history with his IWGP World Heavyweight Championship win at NJPW Windy City Riot.
Friday’s (April 12) NJPW show was headlined by a big IWGP World Heavyweight Title match, with Tetsuya Naito defending the gold against Jon Moxley.
The AEW star was ultimately victorious, pinning Naito to win the most prestigious championship in New Japan Pro Wrestling.
This is the first time Moxley has held this NJPW title, following his two previous reigns with the IWGP US Championship.
With this title win, Jon Moxley became the first wrestler ever to win world titles with WWE, AEW and NJPW.
Moxley notably held the WWE Championship for 83 days in 2016, after cashing in his Money in the Bank contract on Seth Rollins, just hours after winning the briefcase.
He has officially held the AEW World Championship three times, first in February 2020, and most recently for 59 days in late-2022.
AEW President Tony Khan has now congratulated Moxley on his title win, tweeting:

Following the bout, Moxley called out his previous protege Shota Umino, offering him a title match as one last test.
Before Umino could respond to Moxley’s challenge, Ren Narita attacked the new champion. Umino ultimately made the save.
