The date and opponent for a top AEW star’s first championship defence has now been confirmed.

At NJPW Windy City Riot on April 12, Jon Moxley achieved a significant milestone of his career by defeating Tetsuya Naito to become IWGP World Heavyweight Champion for the very first time.
In doing so, Moxley became the first person to hold the WWE, AEW and NJPW world championships.

Now, just days following his landmark win, Moxley will now be forced to look ahead to NJPW’s next big event: Wrestling Dontaku 2024.
The event takes place on May 3 & 4 at the Fukuoka International Center and will feature five championship matches.

As confirmed on NJPW’s official website, the main event of Night Two of the event will see Moxley defend his IWGP World Heavyweight Championship against the House of Torture’s Ren Narita.
Although Moxley stole the headlines with his IWGP Heavyweight Title win, Narita himself picked up an impressive victory at Windy City Riot – defeating NJPW veteran Minoru Suzuki.
While Moxley and Narita will headline Night Two of Wrestling Dontaku 2024, another former WWE star is set to headline Night One, as IWGP Global Heavyweight Champion Nic Nemeth defends his championship against NJPW President Hiroshi Tanahashi.
