On the April 27, 2024, episode of AEW Rampage, former best friends Trent Beretta and Chuck Taylor faced each other.

The match took place in a parking lot and would see Taylor on the losing end of a vicious and bloody encounter.
In comments made on the May 1 episode of AEW Dynamite, Orange Cassidy revealed that Taylor “will never wrestle again” as a result of the match.
Curiously, Cassidy would find himself face-to-face with Don Callis after he left the ring and made his way to the ramp.
The head of the Don Callis family would whisper something to Cassidy before leading him backstage.

Beretta went into more detail in an AEW exclusive that can be seen below this story in which he reveals Taylor “needs surgery”, saying:
“Man, I feel good. I mean, I’m beat to shit, but this is the best I’ve felt in years.
“Chuck Taylor’s career is over. He needs surgery. He’s never gonna wrestle again.

“You want me to feel sorry? Sorry that the guy that rode my coattails, coasted by on my coattails for ten years is done?
“Chuck hasn’t had his head in the game for a long time now. So I took him out of the game, and I’m not sorry.
“I’m not sorry. Orange Cassidy, it’s your turn now.”

Last night’s Dynamite also saw the return of Kenny Omega who fell victim to an attack at the hands of The Elite.
