A number of plans for the February 21 2024 episode of AEW Dynamite had to be changed leading to a “very chaotic” situation.

Tony Khan had hinted at the issues for the recent episode of AEW Dynamite on Twitter, stating it was “the most hectic weeks for injuries and unexpected availabilities”.
Among the issues with availability was Sting whose father had passed away which was referenced during a vignette that also featured Darby Allin.

Addressing the multiple issues encountered on the show during Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer revealed:
“Sting was supposed to be on the show but his father died, so that’s why Ric Flair was there, because Sting was supposed to be there.
“There were a couple of other people.
“Jeff Hardy was supposed to be on the show in a key role.

“One of the reasons that so little was announced was because they didn’t know if Sting would be able to come, Jeff Hardy, and Trent Beretta was supposed to do a singles match with Orange Cassidy – I have no idea why but it had been built up.
“Not announced because they announced that Trent Beretta was injured, and they had done an injury thing on the show, but he was actually ill and they were waiting until basically today, and that’s when they put Mike Bennett in that spot.
“I was told that it was very chaotic backstage, and the reason they didn’t announce anything is because so much of what they wanted to do, they didn’t know if they’d be able to do, so they didn’t want to false advertise.
“That’s why so little was advertised compared to most, and the show had a disorganized feeling – because it really was.”

The main event of last night’s Dynamite saw Hangman Adam Page suffer what is described as a potential ‘broken ankle’ calling doubt into whether he will be ready to compete at AEW Revolution in March 2024.
Jeff Hardy recently suffered a broken nose in his match against Sammy Guevara that was aired on the February 16 episode of AEW Rampage.
