On tonight’s AEW Dynamite, there was a reference to current WWE star CM Punk’s real-life injury during an in-ring promo.

In a relatively lengthy in-ring promo segment, Wardlow laid out his case as to why he was an erroneously overlooked AEW star.
Noting that he was the one true homegrown AEW star, he made reference to several past opponents without naming them.

One of those was clearly CM Punk as he noted that he had beaten the ‘Best in the World’ so badly during their match that his body was still suffering the after effects of the beating:
“Let’s look at some of the people who have held (the AEW World Championship)… ‘The best in the world’, the ‘real heavyweight champion’ – I beat his ass like nobody has in his entire career. His body’s still falling apart from me.”

CM Punk suffered a torn triceps in his first WWE TV match in 10 years at the 2024 Royal Rumble.
Even with the injury, Punk went on to finish the match and be eliminated last by the eventual winner and another notable AEW alum, Cody Rhodes.
Elsewhere in the promo, Wardlow also took aim at former AEW World Champion MJF and current champ, Samoa Joe.
